A year on review.
2022 was the year of challenges, as we celebrated one year as a non-profit organization we are very thankful to all our sponsors, vendors, artists, musicians, friends, and of course the West Michigan community.
As part of our mission to promote our culture and celebrate our Mexican heritage, we can share with all of you that we made it!
Our vision and mission have given us results and we have made incredible progress toward our goal.
In 2022 we celebrate our 53rd anniversary as the oldest cultural event in Grand Rapids Michigan with our celebration of the Fiesta Mexicana. For the first time, we had a carnival and a petting zoo for families to enjoy. This was possible because of our many supporters.
We also celebrated the importance of reaching out and teaching our new generations about our music, dances, crafts, and of course our delicious food.
*We worked together with the Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico City and we had our first virtual visit to la Casa Azul (the formal home of the very famous artist) as well as had our very own display of our Casita Azul with art from Arturo Morales and Raymond Trujillo at the Festival Mexicano.
The participation and relationship with the Mexican Consulate in Detroit were incredible in 2022. In partnership with the Grand Rapids Community Media Center, IMCINE (Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía) and Mexican Heritage Association of West Michigan, we had our First Festival de Cine Mexicano, with movies from Mexico, at the beautiful Wealthy Theater.
*We also had the opportunity to support other important organizations such as the Grand Rapids Public Museum for the event Celebration of Souls (Day of the Dead) as Sponsors.
We collaborated with Downtown Grand Rapids for the Return to the River event. The
lighting of the tree in December with our Posada. We also worked with other local organizations to support their cultural projects. Reaching out to more than 30,000 during our events.
Our horizon and our vision for 2023 expanded, but we need you!
Starting this year, we have already participated in the World of Winter and our runway of Mexican Folklore, the art of Arturo Morales, and storyteller time.
But what is next and where can you be part of all these endeavors?
